What does trade mean gay

Trade is a gay slang term which refers to the casual partner of a gay man or to the genre of such pairings. [1] Men falling in the category of "trade" are not gay-identified.

I think the confusion is that some folks think Trade just means overtly masculine-presenting queer men. That’s part of it, but the other part is that they’re usually bi, DL, or closeted men.
